Indira Gandhi International (IGI) is a beautiful and modern
airport that features the best way we’ve seen of indicating which restrooms are for men or women:
Turns out that the hand poses on the famous Hindu statues with four arms are not random. Mudras are the name for expressive hand gestures that are an intrinsic part of Indian dance, yoga and visual arts. Theses mudras are from the wall art of Delhi International. The first one on the right represents a sign of blessing or greeting that denotes protection or reassurance: "You are safe, be without fear, I am here to shield you from all harm." There were ten mudras on the wall greeting visitors to Delhi.
We couldn’t believe we found our favorite German beer, Erdinger, in the lobby bar of the LaLit Hotel in New Delhi. Props to John’s NYU friend Sidd for recommending the hotel.
We watched a sport on Indian TV called Pro Kabadda. It's a kind of
team tag, only defenders can tackle the “raider” from the other team who tries
to run to their side, tag them, and then get back over the center line, all
without taking a breath (I am not making this up). Don't know why this has
never been on ESPN, or at least Spike TV:
On to the Taj Mahal tomorrow!!!
